With its modern and spacious enclosures and animal housed designed in tune with the animals´natural habitats Cologne Zoo is an favourite destination for visitors young and old whatever the wether. Highlights include the Elephant Park, the largest of its kind north of the Alps, the Primeval House for great apes and the Rainforest House with its exotic inhabitants. Thrills await you on a detour at the Aquarium. Living here are not just colourful fish and butterflies but also crocodiles, praying mantis and piranhas. Another attraction opened in 2010 right on time for Cologne Zoos 100th birthday: the new Hippodom. This walk-on enclosure as a 400 qm replication of an African flood plain habitat is unique throughout Europe and allows visitors fascinating insights into the hidden world of wild animals underwater.
