The Arabian Coffee is a small tree or bush with its origin in northeast Africa. The leaves are stalked (petiolate) and glossy, dark green. The flowers are white and smell well. The seeds in the red stone fruit are called coffee beans. They are roasted and ground and then can be brewed to coffee.

There are 124 known species of coffee, but only 10 are cultivated and only 4 are of economic value. The most important is Coffea arabica. Today coffee is cultivated in the tropical and subtropical regions in the whole world. Coffea arabica is cultivated from 1000 meters upwards.
