The Common Guava a small, gnarled, evergreen tree. The green-brownish bark is peeling off. The round fruit are tasty and high in vitamin C. When ripe, the fruit don’t keep well and are therefore processed to juice, marmalade and fruit paste. The bark is high in tannins.
The Common Guava is frequently used in traditional medicine of many cultures. The oval, dark green leaves are used to prepare tea against intestinal disorders.
