EN

The Blue-headed Quail-dove lives primarily on the ground and seldom flies up. Nesting is on or close to the ground.

In former times the species was more common. Due to habitat loss and hunting the dove today is very rare in Cuba.

Our animals are part of a breeding program of zoos and dedicated private people. Their aim is to beware the species from extinction.
