The Crested Quail-dove is endemic to the Island of Jamaica. The population is declining due to habitat loss and increasing infrastructure. Its namesake crest is short and swept back. The dove prefers montane and dense forest. It is shy and mostly forages solitarily or in pairs on the ground. At night it roosts in trees.
